StudioBLADE (Gen2): 12-Core Xeon processor / 192GB RAM / 6TB HD

StudioBLADE (Gen2): 12-Core Xeon processor / 192GB RAM / 6TB HD

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Music Computing™ Releases World’s Most Powerful Keyboard Production Station

StudioBLADE™ (Gen2): 12-core Xeon Processors / 192GB RAM / 6TB HD

AUSTIN, Texas, June 7, 2011 – Music Computing, the makers of the StudioBLADE line of all-in-one music keyboard  production stations announced today the Gen2 versions, which represents a huge leap in performance and value.

StudioBLADEs (Gen2) are all-in-one music production stations complete with piano keys, drum trigger pads, knobs, sliders, thousands of sound presets and software for live and studio use.  They allow users to compose, record, mix, and master songs that are ready for radio or direct Internet distribution.

StudioBLADEs (Gen2) are powered by high-performance computer cores utilizing Intel® Xeon® mission-critical server platform processors that are perfect for today’s demanding musicians and the virtual instruments and software application they use.  Options include dual 6-core processors totaling 12-cores, up to 192GB of RAM, and up to 6TB of hard drive storage.  The Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) operating system is preconfigured for music production and can run virtually any software application or plug-in.  Capable of running over 2,000 plug-ins at once, sequencing thousands of tracks simultaneously, and storing millions of sound presets, the StudioBLADE (Gen2) is by far the highest performance keyboard available today.

The first truly scalable music production tool, StudioBLADE provides the user with what they need, when they need it.  This means the user can start with the base configuration with a single processor, one memory module and one hard drive, and add more as they need it.  The company calls this the Goldilocks Principle and is designed to allow the keyboard to grow with the user.

“The goal was to produce products that would endure the test of time, or even better yet, the increasing shorter product cycles from the computer parts manufactures.” Said Victor Wong, CEO, Music Computing. “By using server components, which are supported in terms of years or decades instead of months, the StudioBLADE represents a sound investment that will save its users time and money far into the future”

StudioBLADEs (Gen2) are available in 61-key and an 88-key versions, perfect for live or studio use. The keys are velocity-sensitive, semi-weighted action, and are professional in feel and ultra-roadworthy. Pitch and Mod wheels as well as octave up and down buttons with indicators are also included, with prices start at: $3,499

hhhmmm ... I remember Xeon Processors when I inquiried about it ... hahaha ... well I am glad to see it being used Victor. Windows 8 will be shipping soon so I hope we can have that Thunderbolt port once the option is available and maybe some more controls like the Alpha II on the Openlabs Neko and along with the iKeyDock given I am addicted to Mac OS, I wouldn't mind buying the StudioBlade just for more controls and power for a stand alone Windows solution. I was waiting for something like this for the Studio Blade... hehehe

Cool stuff, guys. Although, I was hoping for some cosmetic changes for gen2. Maybe some more physical controls, such as a ribbin control or joystick. Also,I would like to have seen a touchscreen update to something slitely larger and less cheap looking. How about stephan kays KARMA.

@ trichomebenny - thanks!  We have considered adding more controls, but as is, we pretty much have more than anyone else at this point.  smile  However, you are correct, we do not have a ribbon control or a joystick.  Unfortunately we get a lot of request for features that are just not suited for our users and these fall into that category.  Most of our users are music producers and they do not require these controls, so adding them would be additional costs that they do not want.  However, if you really want a joystick or ribbon controller, there are a number of great third-party options...some of which has been posted in this forum...for you to use with our products.  This way if you have to have them, you can, but others do not have to pay for them because they will never use them.

As for the touchscreen, looks can be deceiving because it is a very high quality model...designed specifically for mobile use.  For example, the articulated bracket has a plastic cover, but it's pretty much a solid piece of metal with extra heavy-duty hinges.  Just because it doesn't look industrial doesn't mean it's not built that way.  We do not want to put a larger monitor on the keyboard itself because it would dramatically increase the weight and size of the keyboard.  As you already know, we already let you run 2 additional monitors, which is more than anyone else.  And even if it's a 15" LCD, you're not going to be really happy running large sessions on it.  Plus, the resolution of the one we have is pretty high so you're not having to scroll all over the place either.

While we appreciate what Stephan Kay has created, we have no current plans to integrate any of it with our products at this time.

Thanks, Vic. All valid points. The studioblade is a beutiful machine. Although a high quality component , to me, the sceen just doesn't match the rest of the unit. Functionality is more important than appearance. Keep up the great work.
